Global Advanced Packaging Technology Limited chooses Agilent Technologies RFIC test system to establish first RFIC test line in

29-Apr-2003

Agilent Technologies Inc. today announced that Global Advanced Packaging Technology Ltd. (GAPT) has purchased an Agilent 84000 RFIC test system. GAPT plans to use the new system to establish the first wireless Radio Frequency Integrated Circuit (RFIC) testing line in Eastern China. The Agilent 84000 test system verifies RFICs in development and production, including baseband and transceiver chips for GSM/CDMA mobile phones.

According to the China Center of Information Industry Development (CCID)(1), China's wireless communications market reported noteworthy growth in 2002, with the number of mobile phone users growing more than 20 percent to exceed 206 million.

"The recent growth in China's domestic mobile phone market is expected to continue," said C.K. Lin, GAPT's chief executive officer. "GAPT has decided to capitalize on this opportunity by establishing the first RFIC production test line in Eastern China. We are delighted to cooperate with Agilent on this project, extending our packaging and testing services from the most advanced mixed-signal and logic IC testing into wireless, high-frequency IC testing. The Agilent 84000 RFIC Series stands head and shoulders above any other RFIC test solution in the industry, and with Agilent's professional support, international and domestic customers can expect high-quality service and fast turn-around time."

"China's packaging and testing companies are anxious to develop and accumulate RF test technology," said Paul Yang, STE general manager, Agilent China. "GAPT's choice of the Agilent 84000 RFIC test system aligns with today's market trends and fulfills customers' expectations. In addition, Agilent's engineering team in China is committed to help GAPT establish Eastern China's first RFIC production test line, and is offering comprehensive RF technology training and RF consultant services for GAPT."

About the Agilent 84000 RFIC Series

The Agilent 84000 RFIC Series offers a complete, flexible and scalable solution for package testing of RFIC devices. It can test devices ranging from power amplifiers and low-noise amplifiers (LNAs) to multi-function and highly integrated RFIC devices, including transceivers, mixers and modulators. Measurement capabilities include S-parameters, mixer conversion gain, third-order intercept measurements and adjacent channel power. Requiring minimum calibration and offering straightforward programming and operation, the Agilent 84000 also allows fast line changes. In keeping with today's demands for low cost of test and high throughput, the Agilent 84000 has system uptimes as high as 98 percent in standard laboratory conditions. With high-throughput, mission-critical reliability, and the flexibility and ease of use required to make fast line changes, the Agilent 84000 not only maximizes test efficiency but can also reduce time to market for IC designers.
