Great Lakes Launches Firemaster BP411 Brominated Polystyrene

28-Jan-2004 - USA

Great Lakes Chemical Corporation announced the launch of Firemaster® BP411, a brominated polystyrene flame retardant additive for electrical component applications.

Firemaster BP411 is both thermoplastic and polymeric in nature, and demonstrates good thermal stability and processing characteristics. It offers cost effective flame retardancy to a wide range of engineering thermoplastic resins such as standard, or glass reinforced, Polyamide 6, Polyamide 6,6 and Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT), which are used in the manufacture of products such as electrical connectors, relays and switches.

Firemaster BP411 complements Great Lakes' highly successful range of brominated styrene flame retardant additives. These include Firemaster® CP-44HF, a polybrominated styrene co-polymer, and the Firemaster® PBS 64 and Firemaster® PBS 64HW dibromostyrene-based additives. Each product demonstrates unique performance in the areas of thermal stability, flow and blister resistance in thermoplastic polyester and high temperature polyamide applications.
