Dow Introduces New Generation of High Heat COVELLE HF Weldable Film For The Technical Textile Industry

09-Apr-2002

Atlanta, GA – April 10, 2002 — The Dow Chemical Company's Engineered Films & Laminates business is extending its range of COVELLE* HF (radio frequency) weldable films with a new grade that incorporates copolyester adhesive functionality to meet the specific needs of the textile industry.

The new COVELLE 4200 HF weldable film is a competitively priced film that allows adhesion to an extended range of substrates. The film can be used in applications requiring high temperature performance or washability.

The new COVELLE 4200 HF weldable film can also be made available in a laminate form including a release liner useful for certain industrial processes requiring film carriers.

COVELLE HF weldable films can be used as stand-alone films when RF welding is required. The films can also be laminated to substrates that are not inherently RF weldable, such as polypropylene and polyester non-woven, natural and synthetic woven fabrics, polyamide fabrics, polyurethane foam, paper, cellulose boards and others.

The COVELLE 4200 HF weldable films are suitable for processing with standard RF equipment at typical production rates. They are also suitable for hot roll laminators. COVELLE HF weldable films have been developed with a proprietary formulation and have already received a warm welcome in applications as diverse as automotive interior trim, shoe, curtains, liners, clothing, mattresses, medical hot and cold therapy gel packs.

Sample quantities of the new COVELLE film are available to customers for application trials.

Engineered Films & Laminates, a business of The Dow Chemical Company is a global supplier of a wide range of films including COVELLE HF weldable films and INTEGRAL* adhesive films for thermal lamination and automotive interiors, medical films for collection bags and packaging and labeling films.
