CABB AG in Pratteln/Switzerland receives ISO 14001 certificate

22-Feb-2010 - Switzerland

In January 2010, CABB AG a fine chemicals producer based in Pratteln near Basel, Switzerland successfully completed the process to obtain Certification for Environmental Managenment according to ISO 14001 without any complaints. This is the official recognition for the successful and careful execution of environmental protection.

A certified quality management system according to ISO 9001 has been is in place at CABB since 1996. The elements of environmental protection were included from the beginning as an additional chapter in this quality management system. With the change to a process oriented, integrated quality management system in 2003, environmental protection was one of the main processes in this regulation work.

Like all other processes in the quality management system, the internal environmental protection underlies a continuous improvement process. The recent audit was completed successfully because all requirements for ISO 14001 were already included - due to permanent adaption and adjustment on current standards.

CABB operates a Verbund system at the Pratteln site , in which off gases are separated, purified and recycled. Starting materials and reagents are transported in closed pipelines, which prevent contact with the environment. Many processes and technical operations are designed, prior to the launch, in such a way that waste formation is reduced to a minimum and solvents are recycled. Continuous examination and optimisation of production processes helps to reduce and save energy consumption.
