Dow Izolan Breaks Ground on New Polyurethane Systems Facility in Russia

Dow Izolan, the joint venture company between The Dow Chemical Company (Dow) and Izolan, broke ground on a new, state-of-the-art polyurethane systems manufacturing facility in Vladimir, Russia. The new plant will help Dow Izolan to enhance its offering to Russian customers serving the fast-growing automotive, consumer, footwear, furniture, appliance and construction markets. The facility, which is scheduled for start-up in mid-2009, represents the company’s commitment to the polyurethanes industry in Russia and to offering customers a reliable supply of tailored, value-added solutions.

“As one of the world’s largest emerging economies, Russia is undergoing tremendous growth. To satisfy consumers’ appetites for new cars, energy efficient homes and better appliances, the polyurethanes industry must keep up with ever increasing demand,” said Aldo de Santi, general manager, Dow Izolan. “By expanding our manufacturing capabilities in the region, we can offer our Russian customers the fastest, most technically advanced solutions to their growing needs.”

From rigid foam systems used in construction panels and insulation to flexible foam systems used for arm rests, head rests and seating in automotive applications, the facility will produce a broad range of polyurethane systems.

Established in August 2006, Dow Izolan is based in Vladimir, 170 kilometers (km) northeast of Moscow, and has more than 100 employees.
