Eastman Chemical Company introduces new Sustane trademark for its food-grade line of SAIB (sucrose acetate isobutyrate) products. Marketed globally, Sustane SAIB is used as weighting agents in alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, as tackifiers in lipsticks, and as fixatives in fragrances.
When used in beverage and cosmetics applications, Sustane SAIB is odorless and flavorless, imparts no oxidized flavor and has unmatched shelf-life qualities. In beverages, Sustane SAIB enjoys the highest use level approval of any weighting agent (300 ppm in the United States and Europe), thus giving formulators outstanding flexibility.
Eastman currently offers Sustane SAIB in three formulations: SAIB FG (100 percent SAIB), SAIB CO (90:10 by weight SAIB:citrus oil terpenes) and SAIB ET-10 (90:10 by weight SAIB:ethanol). SAIB CO and SAIB ET-10 are pourable at room temperature for easy handling. All three variations are approved by the FDA and meet other safety specification approvals around the globe.
