Eastman EEH Solvent now Available in Europe

25-Feb-2004

Eastman Chemical Company announces the availability of its Eastman EEH Solvent (Ethylene Glycol 2-Ethylhexyl Ether) in Europe. Colorless and hydrolytically stable, Eastman EEH Solvent brings significant performance and processing benefits to architectural, OEM and special purpose coatings like cathodic electrodeposition primers, as well as to cleaners and floor polishes. "Eastman EEH Solvent has long provided significant benefits to formulators and end-users of coatings, cleaners and floor polishes in North America," says Marie Wilson, global product manager, Eastman. "Now, formulators and coatings manufacturers across Europe will have access to a highly efficient solvent and coalescing aid that offers important production efficiencies and aesthetic benefits for a range of applications."

Eastman EEH Solvent is used as a highly efficient coalescing aid to enhance the performance of a wide range of latex polymers. Coalescing aids provide enhanced wetting, flow and leveling properties to coatings by ensuring that latex particles are soft enough at the point of coalescence to form a continuous film.

Eastman EEH Solvent offers good film integrity, proper color formation, good touch-up properties, and good scrub resistance at low coalescing aid levels, making it particularly suitable for semi- and high-gloss coatings formulations. Its low water solubility minimizes wicking into porous substrates, and its low surface tension provides enhanced wetting, flow, and leveling for appealing, durable finishes.

Eastman EEH Solvent also offers important processing and production efficiencies. It has good hydrolytic stability and is chemically stable in low to high pH coatings. As a high-boiling solvent with a slow evaporation rate, it helps reduce the volatilization from dip tanks in electrodeposition primers and coatings, and provides good flow and leveling of the coating in the baking oven.
